FRENCH OAK COMTOISE THREE STRIKE CLOCK MADE BY PAUL CONRARD OF LIEGE, late 1700’s. The carved rectilinear and dome top cornice over a highly carved hood presenting, a looking glass over paneled by pierced carving and three glazed door panels resting on a moulded base over a carved raised and recessed panel column containing a door with glazed bob door resting on a moulded outset plinth base. The case with reeding, husk, leaf & dart, floral, foliate, pearl, tassel, ribbon, musical instrument, sheet music, and fleurette motifs. The clock face made of fret sawn pewter with enamel Roman & Arabic numerals, and painted pierced iron hands. The fret sawn brass fronton conforming to the glazed panel with “Paul Conrard, a’ Liege” engraved in pewter in the upper round sphere. The whole fronton with applied brass scrollwork. Conrart fils clocks are found in several museums worldwide. Including Musee d’ Ansembourge a’ Liege.
