19th Century Painted Spanish Console
Dimensions: 32 3/4″H x 61 3/4″W x 29 3/4″D
An impressive painted and carved console from 19th century Spain. The console has a chestnut top that has been left unpainted. The top is extremely weathered yet structurally sound. It is affixed to the table’s base with large, hand-forged iron nails. The base has most recently been painted black, with evidence of past paint jobs peeking through. It has been extraordinarily well-carved. The apron has a beaded pearl motif that runs along the front and sides and carved arcades in the corners. Between these arcades, beautiful floral rosettes have been carved into the apron. The four legs are tall and also have been decorated with motifs of scrolled acanthus leaves, beaded pearls, and fluting.
