English 19th Century Boot Scraper
Dimensions: 19 1/2″H x 17″W x 12 1/2″D
A fabulous 19th century boot scraper from England. These functional antiques would be found near the entrance of businesses and homes before the arrival of paved roads. Before entering an establishment, one would need to remove the mud and other muck from his or her boots to reduce the amount of dirt tracked in from outside. Hence, the boot scraper. Boot scrapers were often ornate and stylized. This piece has a simply styled iron scraper that is set into an aged stone column base and combine to make a stately and stylish furnishing. It can still be used today, and would work wonderfully in a mud room or on an outdoor patio.
