French Empire Style Mahogany Lingerie Commode
Dimensions: 57 1/4″H x 29″W x 16″D
A fine mahogany lingerie commode, done in the Empire style, and made in France, circa 1940. An extremely well-preserved piece of marble sits atop this handsome antique. The commode contains seven total drawers. The topmost drawer lacks pulls, but has a working lock, with wonderful brass palm imagery used about the escutcheon. The six lower drawers all have two round brass pulls each. The façades of the drawers have been finished in a marvelously book-matched mahogany, whose grain pattern extends across the entire piece. Two mahogany columns flank the drawers and are capped with ornate brass bases and capitals.
