Pair of French 19th Century Louis XV Bergères
Dimensions: 38 1/2″H x 28 1/8″W x 28″D
A fabulous pair of carved and painted Louis XV style bergères from 19th century France. These beautiful chairs are upholstered in a patterned linen and have a soft green plaid upholstered posterior. The upholstery is not original to the pair, and appears to have been done within the past decade. The joinery is tight and sturdy. The frame has been hand carved and decorated with scrolls, flowers, and scrolled acanthus leaves. It was painted a lovely gray green that has patinated wonderfully over the decades. The top rail is shaped, along with the side and front seat rails. The legs are cabriole in shape, with beautifully carved details about the knees. A stunning pair of bergères that could either be reupholstered or left as is.
