A classic Dutch Empire chest made of oak during the 1800’s. The top drawer protrudes forward over three drawers flaked with ebonized columns featuring brass capitals at the top and bases. All the drawers have brass escutcheon plates and ring pulls, the top left ring pull is missing. Cleaned and polished with a French paste wax, this chest is ready for your immediate use. The design of the semainier was originally created in the 18th Century with 7 drawers to hold a week’s supply of clothing. It’s gained a beautiful patina since its creation circa 1830. Hand-crafted in France circa 1830, its shaped marble top contains the most beautiful colors of ochre, charcoal, and cream with a display of exquisite patterns throughout. Follow down to three wide drawers decorated with beribboned brass escutcheons and circular brass drop pulls. No key is present, However, the drop ring pulls make the drawers easy to open. A 19th century French Empire mahogany semainier featuring artful neoclassical hardware. Hand-crafted in France circa 1810, this semainier is fitted with seven drawers to provide a drawer of clothing or lingerie for every day of the week. A beautiful piece of subtly veined white marble sits atop this case piece’s rectilinear designed architectural body inspired by ancient Greek and Roman concepts. The top hidden frieze drawer sits below bold molding and is adorned with a large and lustrous brass winged neo-classical figure in its center. Beneath and flanked by finely turned columns with etched brass capitals and bases are the remaining six drawers that open easily and have working locks. One key is present. Each of the six drawers has sizable floral and foliate escutcheons and cast brass drawer pulls that feature gorgeous relief florals and grapes. The solid body is finished out with a plinth base and sturdy turreted feet. This elegant semainier is an excellent way to provide lots of storage without taking up alot of floor space, and it provides it with style. A fabulous shaped skirt and cabriole legs make this 20th century French stripped and painted commode a standout. This recently painted case piece incorporates elements of both Louis XV and Regence styles. The shaped top with a curvy molded edge is atop three large bowed and shaped panel drawers with crested escutcheon plates and painted metal drop pulls with floral motifs. Three keys, also with a painted finish, are present and rest inside three working locks. The lovely molding follows down to four curving cabriole legs connected by a shaped hand-carved skirt. This commode pairs elegant shapes and fluid lines with a textured rustic painted patina to make an interesting and beautiful piece that would be a wonderful addition to a bedroom, powder room or child’s room. This stylish case piece is made of mahogany and topped with its original shaped marble top that has incredibly gorgeous patterns and charcoal and black veining throughout. A bank of three drawers with trimmed paneling are all fitted with brass oval escutcheon plates and attractive angular brass drop pulls, each edged in finely detailed neoclassical motifs. Handsome fluted corners flank the drawers. The whole is raised on well turned and polished front feet and elegant tapering back feet. The sides are handsomely paneled and showcase the beautiful wood grain and fine patina that can be seen throughout the whole commode. A handsome Louis XV style commode circa 1800 or earlier. A fantastic charcoal marble top with a molded edge, shaped in the same fashion as the body. A bank of three drawers features impressive cast brass ormolu pulls and escutcheons. Two keys are included for all three functioning locks. The wonderfully patinated hardwood is accentuated with scrolling paneling. A fine scalloped apron with a modeled edge features a floral carving in the center. Curvy cabriole legs support the whole. An exceptional Parisian commode, with painted finish, from 18th century, France. This four-drawer antique case piece features a shapely form and an outstandingly well-patinated finish. All drawers are equipped with large, decorative bronze pulls. The three keyholes are surrounded by asymmetrically formed bronze escutcheons. The top has been painted to resemble a darker gray marble and has aged marvelously with the rest of the finish. A shaped skirt completes this sinuously conceived commode. c.1780.
