A rare lit de repos made of mahogany most likely from Cuba or the Antilles and fitted with brass and ormolu figurines drawn from myth and history. The mahogany of the frame showcases the flame effect present across the best grain of the wood. The ornamentation on this piece representative of the Empire period includes neoclassical lions on the crown, heralding winged trumpet players on the bed frame, symmetrical swans, a favorite motif of Empress Josephine at her home Malmaison on the headboard, central symmetrical lyre players on the facade panel and Egyptian palmettes at the feet. The bed frame is flanked by stately fluted columns with ornamental brass capitals and bases featuring repeating neoclassical patterns. The crown offers the ability to create a private intimate space with your choice of drapery in a recessed space or nook for a niche bedroom.   • French Vintage Marble Top Demilune Chest

    This striking little demilune chest features exceptional inlaid mahogany in varying varieties that have been thoughtfully book matched and placed about the chest to maximize the beauty expressed through its grain. Made in France in 1965, this vintage chest was created in the style of Louis XVI and underwent a refinishing in November of 2009. This restoration is documented in writing beneath the half moon piece of Breche d’Alep marble which tops the chest, along with the maker’s signature “Vecnissage par H.B.B Maco 1965”. Two shaped drawers are housed within the chest and bedecked with cast brass pulls and escutcheons. There are no keys present. Beautiful cast brass ormolu can also be found about the front feet, apron and flanking the bank of drawers.

    This stunning vitrine is dripping with antique elegance and character! Made in the style of Louis XVI in France circa early 1900’s. The incredible bookmatched veneer has gained a vibrant patina over the last more than a century. Although petite, every inch of this display case piece has been thoughtfully constructed. The top of the piece showcases a combination of dark wood and fruitwood inlay and chamfered corners that continue down the body of the piece. Lustrous, wonderfully detailed ormolu adornes the cornice; classic egg and dart, whimsical acanthus vines, and organic floral twist. The large scrolling vine ormolu is inset into the wood on three sides and features a face surrounded by sun rays above the front doors. We love the flirty design around the wavy original glass and twisted acanthus ormoulo between the doors. The interior houses three adjustable shelves and provides the perfect way to display.     A spectacular Belgium limestone topped, mahogany console from 19th century France.  Just beneath the top is a hidden compartment accessed only when the stone top is removed.  The apron is outfitted with a beautiful ormolu scene depicting two deer pulling a chariot with two figures, also present are three dogs and two putti figures with horns.  The top is supported by traditional Empire-style column legs with ormolu capitals and bases.  A shaped stretcher base supports the columns and rests on casters.  See detailed pictures for condition, the stone top has minor scratches.

    This lovely, mahogany gueridon is from France and features a Breche d’Alep marble top with brass gallery, over an apron outfitted with two locking drawers operated by a single key.  The apron is trimmed with a brass band around the bottom.  Four, round tapering and fluted legs have brass ormolu ornamentation inset into the flutes along with brass bands around the top and bottom of each leg.  Each leg is connected by a stretcher connecting at the center with a final.  The whole sits on turned feet with brass casters.

    This elegant period Empire ormolu-mounted white marble portico clock, c. 1830, is from France. The floral-and-foliate ormolu-mounted frieze sits above four Doric columns with gilt bronze collars and bases and surround the workings. The 4-1/2″ enamel dial is marked “Sacré à Paris” and displays black hand-painted Roman numerals and housed in a gilt-bronze acanthus-leaf bezel over an unadorned pendulum. The whole rests on an ormolu-mounted plinth base with gilt-bronze pad feet. It has been cleaned and is in working condition. This clock would be exquisite set atop a darker contrasting mantle or console table!
