    A delightful 19th century Victorian English mahogany lectern hand-crafted in England circa 1860 featuring a tilt top that can be placed at different angles, a well turned and banded base that expands to change the height using an attached simple wooden peg, and an elegant tripod base. The rich brown tone of the wood is accentuated by a beautiful patina seen throughout. In superb condition, this piece has been cleaned and polished with French paste wax and is ready for your immediate use as a lectern, book, or music stand.   • French 19th Century Solid Oak Book Stand

    A wonderful music or book stand, made in France towards the end of the 19th century. The uncomplicated design is a testament to turned wood, with its post made of solid oak, which has been turned in a classic balustraded form. The oak has been quarter sawn, giving it a striated appearance which is sometimes referred to as ‘tiger oak’. The stand is lifted by a tripodal base, made of three shaped legs.

    This French 19th century library step ladder is the perfect functional antique to elevate any space. The semi-circular ladder features four stairs rolled around a turned central post.     A collection of 14 books from a bimonthly French literary journal covering the years 1922-1931. First called Journal de l’Université des Annales, Conferencia was added to the journal’s title in 1919. Yvonne Sarcey was the journal’s editor until her death in 1950. Red leather spines with gold banding and lettering are in good condition. Three quarters leather over marbled boards and marbled end pages give this set the perfect vintage charm for any home or office decor!

    Bound compilation of the French magazine, La Nature (Nature in English) established in 1873 by French scientist and adventurer Gaston Tissandier. This 22 volume set covers the years 1895-1905. La Nature is still in print today under the name La Recherche. These volumes are written in French and full of scientific articles, illustrations and reviews. The red leather spines with raised bands and gold lettering are in good antique condition. Speckled board covers and marbled endpapers give this large set the perfect touch of antique charm. The French title Traité de Chirurgie Orthopédique translates to Treaty of Orthopedic Surgery by Ombredanne, P. Mathieu. The top edges of the paper have been painted metallic gold for a touch of vintage luster.

Volumes I-III of The Ecclesiastical and Political History of the Popes of Rome during the 16th and 17th centuries by Leopold Ranke, a professor at the University of Berlin, translated from German to English by Sarah Austin and published in 1840.  The leather spines have beautiful gold stamped details and lettering. Vibrant blue covers have protective leather corners. The marbled interior covers have a black and white family tree and crest with the name of the presumed previous owner Watson Askew- Robertson of Pillinsburn in Northumberland, England (1834-1906).  The interior pages are in good antique condition, containing still legible handwritten notes in the margins.     A stunning 18th century iron lectern from France. This would have been used on the altar to display a large bible during mass for the priest to read from. This is an instant conversation starter in any space because of its great height at over seven feet tall and beautiful details! Topped with a pointed cross, accented in gold and scrolling details, the display has the ability to turn 360 degrees. At each side is an adjustable candle holder in working condition. Gilt details from centuries past cling to the worn iron, adding to the exceptional patina. The scrolling base is ornamented with hammered acanthus leaves. A sturdy wooden tripodal base with thumbnail carving supports the lectern. Metal casters make this a movable piece; perfect to be placed in the center of a room to be enjoyed by all angles.
