A sizable vessel, made in France of solid brass for open hearth cooking. The pot has a large forged iron handle for carrying or hanging it over an open flame. Over the years, the hammered brass and iron has gained a fantastic patina. There is some cracking around the rim, giving it tons of character. A fine mixing bowl made during the 1850’s in France. The bowl has been glazed with a rich, glossy yellow and whimsical green floral form on the interior. This beautiful example of antique kitchenalia will make a wonderful centerpiece for your dining table, or perhaps a cachepot for the right plant! Make sure to view the detailed images.

Encased in navy blue leather and protected by gold velvet, this set of 4 serving utensils includes a carving fork and knife and a salad serving fork and spoon. The carving knife has the maker’s initials and the word “inoxydable” which means stainless or rust proof in French. The carving fork features a protective lever attached to the back. The idea is that when you have a large piece of meat (such as a large prime rib or so), it’s difficult to balance the meat to be able to cut it vertically. Instead, you cut it horizontally from the right with your carving knife (assuming you are right-handed). To keep the meat from slipping away, you stick the fork in from the left, using your left hand. That puts the fork (and your left hand holding the fork) directly into the path of the knife when it exits whatever you’re cutting. The sudden lack of resistance could cause the knife to “jump” towards your hand. With this guard, the knife hits the guard rather than the hand. The salad fork and spoon are fit with amber celluloid heads and offer a lovely contrast to the polished metal. Make sure to view the detailed images for a closer look.

This large pewter plate from France is a wonderful culinary accessory dating from 1817. It has a fantastic patina and the perfect amount of wear. The date is etched into the top and the back showcases multiple stampings from the unknown pewterer. The crowned rose was used on pewter from the mid 16th century to denote higher-quality metal; this plate has two. Not suggested for culinary use due to the heavy metal content. This elegant white porcelain fish platter was designed and produced by Pillivuyt in France, located in the town of Mehun-sur-Yevre which has been home to the factory since its establishment in 1818. The original stamp is still visible on the bottom. This dish is in great condition, very few signs of wear are visible. Simple and sophisticated, it’s the perfect dish to display in the kitchen or to use when entertaining!
