    This handsome Louis XIII-style armoire, c. 1820, is from France and features boldly-carved and beautifully grained oak with a deep and rich finish. The deeply-paneled doors bear hand-wrought steel barrel hinges and a single escutcheon, and open to reveal a single fixed lower shelf and ample space for a media center. At one point in this exuberant armoire’s 200-year lifetime, it survived a flood that is evidenced by a waterline 30″ above the bottom. There is very little difference in coloration, yet it could be start of many great conversations!

It features a single “X”-carved drawer with an oblong steel pull over a like-carved locking door with hand-cut steel escutcheon and steel barrel hinges, and opens to reveal a single removable shelf.  Storage pieces such as this confiturier were originally used to store jams and jellies, however, this cabinet would be very useful as a nightstand next to a tall bedstead.     A fantastic little oak table, made in France circa 1780. The oak is darkly toned, with a deep, rich chocolate color. The top is wonderfully patinated, with a little history imparted by all who have used it. A wide drawer can be found in the apron and accessed with a pull of its small, turned oak knob. The table has four legs that are all turned in baluster / candlestick form and braced by stretchers below. At nearly two hundred and forty years old, this special table looks incredible for its age, and with proper care, will only improve over time.

    A fine butcher table, made in Nantes, France circa 1920. The table’s top boasts exceptional patination. A groove has been left from decades of knife work and butchery. The top is bound together with steel bindings that help to keep the top from splitting. The butcher block rests on a stylish pine base that has been influenced by the Art Deco movement that was occurring at the time of its construction. The base has a large drawer and the maker’s badge that has his name, R. Lerat, and even his shop’s address at 18 R’de Bouville in Nantes, France.

    A beautiful hand-painted stool from 1900’s England. The antique is upholstered in a creamy gold silk fabric that is affixed to the frame using the same creamy gold-colored gimp tape. The frame is ebonized, with the four legs having a cabriole form and the apron being shaped. The ebony base has been masterfully hand-painted with gorgeous flowers, birds, foliage, and decorative filigree. This stool was greatly influenced by the Chinoiserie movement that was going on in England at the time. Hardwood has become exposed where some of the ebony has been lost, giving the stool its antique character.

    A brilliant pair of gold gilt fauteuils, made in France towards the beginning of the 19th century. The pair has been more recently upholstered in a silk fabric depicting fruiting branches. These Louis XV armchairs have a carved frame that is finished in wonderfully preserved, lustrous gold gilt. Sinuous lines, hallmarks of the classic Louis XV design, are incorporated into the chair’s rails, with lovely cabriole legs emerging from them and terminating in escargot feet.

    A large three-tier server, made in France circa 1890. The server is demilune in shape, giving it a distinct, finished presence. The front has two breaks where expertly turned columns provide support for the two upper shelves. It has been constructed using a combination of quarter sawn oak and fruitwood, which have been formed into panels that create the buffet’s back. A demilune quarter sawn oak plinth base provides the foundation for this grand French server.

Four turned legs extend from Louis XVI joinery dies found at the table’s corners. They have been embellished with twisted carvings and are braced by a concave stretcher below. The ornate stretcher has a carved finial found at its axis. c.1890.

    A wonderfully aged French provincial pine folding table, with a numismatic (coin collecting) twist, circa 1900. American and European coins have more recently been inlaid into the table’s top in a most-interesting manner. The coins lie flush with the surface and are held in place with numerous nails that surround each coin. Both the coins and pine top have an antiqued patina that fills this unique antique with charm. The table has braced legs that can be folded for easier transport. Forged iron supports guide the legs when folding the table, and two metal latches can be used to keep them securely tucked away.

The tabletop is trimmed in a mirrored carved twist motif that runs the entire perimeter. The table’s most noticeable feature is the barley twist legs that have been masterfully turned, much like the phenomenal stretcher that connects them. This ornate stretcher is further decorated with a beautiful urn finial placed where the supports intersect. The ebony finish gleams with its fresh wax and polishing, and will for years to come. Brass casters can be found under each of the four legs.

    A stunning oak coffer from the early part of the 19th century, France. This wonderful trunk has a design reminiscent of Jacobean design, however is more recent. Beautiful moulded walnut trim frames the front and sides with other trim fashioned into geometric shapes. These lovely embellishments give this coffer a unique style that is all its own. It is lifted by four feet that have been styled in the same fashion as feet found on many Louis Philippe pieces. Patinated cut-steel escutcheons and drop bail handles can be found on the coffer’s front. The perfect blanket chest for the end of a bed. c.1830.

A wonderfully versatile table that is there when needed, but able to be broken down, and easily stowed away when not in use.

The top actually lifted off the cabinet – it was a stacking process for display. Now the top is secure and a door was made for your convenience. Wonderful for displaying a special collection.
