    A very unique Georgian-style, Chinoiserie-inspired octagonal-shape center table from 19th century England with a painted frame of cream-white and tan marble top. The marble surface has lovely veining of curious fossilized patterns in a range of beige, ochre, and ivory tones that shows light patina of wear with a few surface scratches. A thick apron hosts two drawers, and each side between the legs is accented with a handpainted design to create a paneled effect in a contrasting charcoal line. A series of turned legs supporting the top are similarly accented with intermittent black lines for subtle definition as the legs swell and taper down to the floor.     A dramatic French marble and iron work table from the 19th century, that would have been a display fixture in a butcher shop or bakery to present the current offerings. The thick, white marble slab has wispy gray veining throughout, finished with a smooth, honed surface and rounded edges and is tinged to saffron-toned patina. Like many butcher’s tables of similar style, this example has a trough carved around the perimeter for liquids to drain into. The cast iron base features an ornate apron of dense, stylized Neoclassical foliate motifs suspended over exaggerated scrolls for legs. These historic details have been preserved and emphasized by a recent powder coat in a glossy shade of red somewhere between oxblood (appropriately) and maroon. The shaped and impeccably inlaid top is hinged and will unfold to double in size and reveal a Kelly green playing surface, ideal for cards, dominoes and other games. When opened, the table has dimensions: 29 ½” H x 39 ¼” W x 42 ½” D. The table’s drawer opens to provide support for the top when laid open. When closed, it can be locked using the one key present. An easy to use tilting mechanism flips the top upright for storage when not in use. The base features a thick, turned column branching into four, reeded and splayed legs ending in stylized brass feet on casters.
