    Dimensions: 78 ½” H x 29 ½” W x 7 ½” D

A multipurpose French hall tree from the 19th century that will serve many functions in an entryway, hall, or other active room in the home that needs compact storage solutions. Also called a vestiaire, this tall coat & hat rack is made out of solid oak washed in weathered layers of slate-tone paints, arranged in a paneled design resembling a door. A multitude of brass hooks surround the beveled mirror plate which is original, its reflection just beginning to show a speckled haze of foxing. Below the mirror is a small shelf; the perfect drop-area console for keys and other personal effects, with a brass railing farther down that functions as a holder for walking sticks and umbrellas in a removable drip tray. Gently cleaned and polished with a French paste wax, ready to be installed in your interior. There is no mounting hardware currently attached. We believe this to be in good antique condition considering its age, and any visible signs of wear are captured in the photos. Shop Antique Coat Racks

Every house has a unique aesthetic. Fortunately, there are several different types of antique coat racks, so you can easily find an option that matches your style and interior decor. Below are some of the most common types of antique coat racks.

Standalone Racks

Standalone racks are a classic option with a single rack you can place where you want in your home. This simple type of rack is practical, attractive, and does not take up too much space. In addition, standalone racks come in wood, metal, and plastic varieties, with a large number of decorative options.

Artisan Racks

Artisan racks can take on many styles and appearances, but their key element is they utilize unconventional shapes and materials. For example, someone might make an artisanal coat rack out of untreated wood or scrap metal. Artisanal designs are often unique and typically channel a specific theme in their appearance.

Wall-Mounted Racks

Wall-mounted racks are another antique coat rack option that saves space. These racks attach directly to a wall and don’t have a stand.

The wall-mounted design makes them sleek and unobtrusive, but you need ample amounts of wall space to hang the rack in the first place. Wall-mounted racks come in several varieties, including wood, metal, and unconventional materials.

Corner Coat Racks

As the name implies, corner coat racks can go in the corner of your home to reduce space usage and minimize clutter. These kinds of racks have a rectangular shape that you can directly place in the corner of your rooms. Like most other coat racks, they are available in numerous materials and styles.

Coat Rack Materials

Antique coat racks feature several different materials. Below is a list of common coat rack materials.

  • Wood
  • Metal
  • Plastic
  • Composite

Wood and metal are probably the most “antique” materials on the list, but you can find antique-style coat racks with more modern materials.

Whether you have a history-inspired or minimalist interior aesthetic, antique coat racks are the perfect addition, bringing both stunning visuals and valuable functionality. Before deciding on a type of coat rack, consider how often you’ll use it, your current home layout, and your desired interior design.
