    34.25"H x 24"W x 19"D

At the top of the chairs is a crescent-shaped headrest narrowing to sharp points, rising from the splat of three parallel bars set at a comfortable recline behind the upholstered seats (currently in a sage-green chenille). Vertical legs at the front and sabered legs at the back are sturdy, rising up to half-moon armrests. The openness of the design and the bold creativity invites a conversation whether placed around a dining table or a living room arrangement. Gently cleaned and polished, ready for your interior. • French 19th Century Large Art Nouveau Gilt Mirror

    $7,800.00

    74.63"H x 45.75"W x 1.38"D

    Dimensions: 74 ⅝” H x 45 ¾” W x 1 ⅜” D

A dramatic French, late 19th century gold gilt mirror with original mirror glass framed by delicately carved foliate molding. The narrow molding incorporates scrolling vines of blooming flowers that come alive by the deep red bole exposed by the patination of the gold leaf. The result is a surprisingly organic effect of tactile variety with a shimmer of gold, drawing the viewer in for a closer look. Adding dimension to the original mirror glass are intermittent parallel lines of dark foxing and a random cloud toward the upper right which confirms the age. Just over six feet tall, the mirror would be perfect as a full length/floor mirror to expand the room, likewise make quite a statement over a fireplace mantel or buffet in a home with tall ceilings. Note that the frame is displayed in vertical orientation but is symmetrical to install horizontally. Please view the detailed images to see more, and the current condition.

The exterior of the apron is entirely inlaid with geometric marquetry in a chevron pattern bordered by a thin line of contrasting, twisted effect. Tapered legs, a signature Louis XVI design, are wrapped in a more complete cross section of marquetry that shows variegated graining to end at the floor in brass sabot feet. Cleaned, tightened, and polished with a French paste wax, this extraordinary occasional table is ready for your interior. Please view the detailed images to see the current condition as the marble shows a number of thin scratches.

  • French Art Nouveau Gilt Console Table

    $4,500.00

    29.50"H x 39.50"W x 17.50"D

    Dimensions: 29 ½” H x 39 ½” W x 17 ½” D

French Art Nouveau giltwood console table circa 1900, a sculptural piece of furniture that expresses the artistry of the period when every aspect of interior design was an opportunity to minimize the geometry of the built environment softened with biomorphic references. This example has a shaped, white marble top that is slightly lobed at the front corners flowing in line with the gently arching splay of the two legs (the only legs meaning the piece needs to be secured to a wall for safety). An entanglement of floral and ribbon carvings decorate the bowed profile, which meet in the center of the apron as a pendant with a single flower. Note how the smooth luster of the gilded finish is truly dazzling to behold, like a piece of fine jewelry for the home. A stretcher joining the legs seems to make a connection to the poetry of Japanese floral arrangements, using the slight asymmetry for visual tension. Please view the detailed images to see the current condition as there might be some previous repairs to the legs. Marble shows the expected patina of dark spots and fine scratches.
