An antique British counter or grocer scale in cast iron and brass circa 1890. Small scales of this type had many uses during the Victorian Era and could be found in apothecaries, tobacconists, grocers, and shops. This scale has a painted black cast iron base that now shows a wonderful patina. When looking at its underside you can see the other colors it has been in its lifetime of use as remnants of creamy orange and a kelly green paint show through. Featuring the original wonderfully aged brass bowls and three weights of 2 lb, 1 lb, and 4oz that have the royal cypher of Queen Victoria on their marks. English 19th Century Maple and Co. Meat Platter

This stately 19th Century English porcelain meat platter features a scalloped rim, embossed deep draining channels, and is replete with basting well at one end. Raised upon integral feet to base. High gloss glaze overall with a decorative crane on the rim of the platter. On the reverse is the mark “Maple and Co. London” with imprinted numbering. Maple and Co. was one of the largest and most successful British furniture and decorative arts retailers in the late 19th Century. An additional imprint of a Caduceus, the registered trademark by Powell and Bishop, an English china and earthenware manufacturer (1876-1891) helps to date this piece to the Edwardian era. Max Schlemminger was an artist born in Germany in 1880 and passed away in 1960 at the age of 80. His paintings have been sold at auctions around the world. This painting was created when he was just 27 years old. An excellent study of an elderly gentleman with a quizzical expression, long beard and white smock against an attractive deep red background. English 19th Century Mahogany Drop Leaf Table

A fantastic English mahogany drop leaf table, made there circa 1840. The table has two large, demilune-shaped leaves that lay to the sides of the table when down. To expand the top and raise the leaves, the leaves are lifted, and the apron itself is hinged midway to swing out – with one leg attached – to create a 90 angle that braces the top, when up. This ingenious design is simple and effective and negates the need for additional table legs that can impede the knees and feet of seated individuals. The mahogany is rich with a deep color and wonderful patination. A wonderfully versatile table that can be placed and used throughout the home. With the leaves down, the table has the dimensions: 28 ⅜”H x 42”W x 18”D.

English Early 19th Century Iron Bound Coffer

This exceptional trunk was made in England, circa 1800. The antique coffer has an interior which has been lined with metal and would make a fantastic storage or blanket chest. The solid wood coffer features hand forged iron hardware that has been formed and styled to provide a decorative flourish to the utilitarian antique. Twisted iron bail handles provide grips to lift and transport the trunk as well as access its interior.

This delightful English pine dresser was made circa 1840 and is brimming with country charm. The warm tones found within the antique pine are absolutely beautiful and naturally comforting. The English pine has accumulated a patination that is second to none and helps illustrate the antique’s story. A bank of five small drawers are located above the dresser’s surface, all with turned wooden knobs. Just beneath this surface, three larger drawers are positioned above the large storage cavity which is enclosed behind the dresser’s paneled doors. The doors and drawers all sport large, turned wood knobs. The interior is equipped with a single fixed shelf. The antique is raised on wonderfully turned ball feet.
