19th Century Dutch Religious Robe, Framed

A wonderful 19th century Dutch priest’s robe, circa 1850. The antique textile is designed with flame colored embroidered silk in cruciform shape, trimmed in antique gold galon. A raised gold metallic Sacred Heart of Jesus, found at the transverse, is surrounded by scalloped raised gold metallic embroidery. The flame silk is adorned with with gold laurel wreaths that are separated by gold crowns. Inside the wreaths are bundles of wheat and flowers. The ivory silk is decorated with silvery angels that catch light magnificently. The robe has been recently mounted in a gold frame with shimmery champagne backing.
