Dutch 20th Century Makore Sideboard
$3,995.00 $3,200.00
Dimensions: 40 1/2″ H x 77″ W x 19″ D
A sizable sideboard, made in the Netherlands circa 1900. This early 20th century case antique was made using fine African Makore veneer. This hardwood features a beautiful, curly grain that is expressed when milled in the quartersawn fashion, as it was with this piece. The antique is constituted of three drawers which are positioned over three doors. While the doors all have working locks, and can be secured using them, the drawers do not, and can be accessed using their brass pulls. Beautifully inlaid mahogany apliques, done in filigree forms, are situated between the drawers, ornamenting the apron. Mahogany inlay can also be found trimming the drawer and door fronts as well as about the shaped bracket feet. The interior of the antique is divided into two separate chambers. A single door secures that on the left, while the other two doors close before the larger chamber on the right. The beautiful antique will house dishes and/or servingware, can store electronics and obscure media components, keeps linens folded and ready for your next event, all while demonstrating unflappable urbanity and resolute refinement.
