An absolutely stunning vintage breakfront console table in the Louis XVI taste, handpainted in the Netherlands by artisans at the House of Bendhor Le Fay. The top of the table is brought to life with a faux Breche d’Alep marble surface, rendered with sensitive accuracy to the natural qualities of the stone in a palette of beige, red, and green patches with veining. Marking the center of the breakfront is a kind of cartouche with Classical wreath design carved in low relief, from there a line of Greek key carvings extends from the panel to wrap around the apron, all washed in a faux ebonized finish that is dusted in gold for regal effect. English Victorian book stand, circa 1900 invented by John Carter and patented as a “Literary Machine” that offers two adjustable components mounted on a brass rod: the small mahogany easel to prop up a book and the circular shelf below to place one’s drink, eyeglasses, candle, or other small items that would support the enjoyment of reading. The shelf is not only adjustable in height but also slides along a cantilevered rod and can be angled to a comfortable degree for viewing. Note the small lyre-shaped clip protruding from the top as another, thoughtful convenience. The tall brass rod is mounted on a cast iron base of four arched feet with ornate scrolled motifs. On the back of the book display is the original tag from the maker “Carters” with the address in London. English 19th Century Mahogany Fold-down Desk

English circa 1820 Wellington-style chest of drawers made of mahogany in dazzling flamed grain that stretches across the case. The tall and narrow chest is secured to the sides by corbel-topped carved pilasters which are actually flaps on hinges to secure the drawers and provide a vertical counterpoint to the movement in the grain. No key is present. What appears to be nine drawer fronts are actually seven, like a semainier, reserving the middle for a compact secretary drawer disguised as two drawers which slide out and unfold as the tooled, green leather writing surface. To the back of the case are open pigeon holes and five small drawers veneered in luminous maple. An original glass inkwell is hidden in the lower right drawer. This spectacular desk has been gently cleaned and polished with a French paste wax to maintain every extraordinary detail. A French, 19th century Directoire style leather-topped desk with hidden extensions on each side to add surface area, in a dramatic ebonized finish over the wood. The side leaves have some apparent wear in the leather, also emphasized with brass. Four locking drawers occupy the case: a wide drawer in the center flanked by two stacked on the left and one deep drawer on the right all with matching shield escutcheons. Four keys included. A massive, solid bronze coffee table in the manner of Belgian designer Peter van Heeck to make an architectural statement in any living room. Cast in solid bronze that glows like brass with stepped, paneled motifs recalling Art Deco geometry, the skill of the foundry is on full display and, if taken as a work of metal sculpture, it could suit a Brutalist aesthetic as well. An inset clear glass top offers lightness and transparency against the visual mass of the (textured bronze) legs and apron. Stylistically the coffee/cocktail table harmonizes with a range of eclectic interiors ranging from the Mid-century to more maximalist. English 19th century farmhouse (dining) table, recently adapted for use as a coffee table to recontextualize the familiarity of a rustic farm table, placing that sense of warmth & welcome in a living area. Handmade from pine and beech, the planks of the top have been scrubbed smooth to reveal pale yellow grain in gentle patterns and texture. The frame is stained in a medium-brown walnut tone for slight contrast, dotted with the heads of square peg joinery that confirms the age. Within the apron is a rather wide drawer for convenient but out of sight storage, opened by a small turned knob. Dutch Vintage Louis XVI Faux Marble Console

An absolutely stunning vintage breakfront console table in the Louis XVI taste, handpainted in the Netherlands by artisans at the House of Bendhor Le Fay. The top of the table is brought to life with a faux Breche d’Alep marble surface, rendered with sensitive accuracy to the natural qualities of the stone in a palette of beige, red, and green patches with veining. Marking the center of the breakfront is a kind of cartouche with Classical wreath design carved in low relief, from there a line of Greek key carvings extends from the panel to wrap around the apron, all washed in a faux ebonized finish that is dusted in gold for regal effect.
