Deep ebonized color & texture of the wood contrasts beautifully with the kaleidoscopic inlay of mother-of-pearl tesserae arranged in cresting waves around the circumference and as larger pieces of shell accenting the handpainted floral decoration in the center. A turned wood support column is given definition by little rings of gold as it widens to a tripod base decorated with scrolling motifs.
