Strand Magazine, 40 Volumes. An illustrated monthly magazine, published 1891 – 1950 Named after The Strand, a street joining the cities of Westminster and London. It was also a cultural locus for dining, theater, music, and literature in the 19th century. The Strand published short stories and general interest articles. The Sherlock Holmes short stories by Arthur Conan Doyle were first published in The Strand. Other contributors included Agatha Christie, H.G. Wells, Rudyard Kipling, and Winston Churchill.
