Note the central plank of the top surface is an astonishing 18” in depth. There is an honest repair of a circular plug to the right side, really more of a beauty mark than a blemish. The case is a very unusual number of two drawers–not the usual three–which are quite deep as a result, using brass bail pull hardware lending functional ornamentation to the piece, complemented by small keyhole escutcheons leaving great swathes of the wood to appreciate for the tones and grain pattern. No key is present. Turned, fluted feet elevate the case from the floor. Cleaned, tightened, and polished with a French paste wax this antique commode is ready to join your interior. Dimensions: 19 ½” H x 53 ⅜” W x 14” D
A charming English oak storage bench from circa 1730. However primitive in construction, such an uncomplicated design is what makes it versatile for an entryway, hall, or mudroom. One could even use it as a traditional “footlocker”, that is a trunk placed at the end of a bed. Lift the narrow lid on the top and one finds a deep and wide storage compartment. Note the presence of two iron locks still intact but neither key is present. Side planks with triangular notches cut out (to suggest feet) elevate the trunk from the floor. Cleaned and polished with a French paste wax–ready for your interior. Please view the detailed images to see more.

The left door hooks onto the interior shelf (16 ⅝” deep) opening in tandem with the middle door that contains a working lock. The third door encloses a smaller cabinet with one shelf, 16 ⅝” deep. French 19th Century Painted Bibliotheque
$13,995.00103.50"H x 71"W x 20"D
Dimensions: 103 ½” H x 71” W x 20” D
This French bookcase from the late 19th century makes a dramatic statement by its scale alone, and the crackled texture of the paint gives it visual intrigue to anchor any kitchen, dining room, library, or office. Below an understated cornice, four tall, narrow glass-front doors of the bookcase provide visibility to regard the contents on three shelves (approximately 16” deep) which are stationary. Note doors are paired so the second and fourth doors contain the locks while the first and third doors use a slide-bolt for security. Most of the panes exhibit the unmistakable wavy surface and bubbles of antique glass, and a few are replacements. In subtle contrast to the chalky exterior, the back and shelves of the interior have been painted an ethereal blue-gray to further illuminate and highlight the contents. The lower section of the unit offers an undivided cabinet for (less visible) storage and organization, behind two pairs of locking doors. The stationary shelf inside is 16” deep, spanning the full width of the interior. Cleaned, tightened and polished, this monumental storage piece is ready to astound in your interior. Please view the detailed images to see more. Two keys included to share between the four working locks.

French 18th Century Carved Oak Buffet à Deux Corps
$5,600.0095"H x 57.50"W x 20.38"D
Dimensions: 95” H x 57 ½” W x 20 ⅜” D
A stunning French oak buffet à deux corps (cabinet in two sections) from the 18th century, designed with features and style that suit many decorating tastes and storage needs for the modern interior. The rounded cornice softens the impressive scale and height of the case, seeming to rise on quarter-round fluted pilasters at the corners outlined in ribbon-twist carvings to frame two paneled doors. Another line of ribbon-twist carvings outline the different panels of the doors: a narrow foliate motif along the top sits over two rectangular panels given further definition by egg & dart carvings. The doors open by working lock and key to reveal an interior fitted with two shelves, 13 ¾” deep. In the base section–behind the locking doors–there is one shelf over two small drawers (like a linen press) measuring 17” deep. Cleaned and polished with a French paste wax this antique storage piece is ready for your interior. Please view the detailed images to see more.
French Midcentury Oak Bibliotheque
$9,995.00107.75"H x 93"W x 18.50"D
Dimensions: 107 ¾” H x 93” W x 18 ½” D
This magnificent vintage bookcase is a demonstration of French craftsmanship intersecting with 20th century design tastes in the manner of Charles Dudouyt, bridging 19th century Arts & Crafts traditions with the graphic, modern styling of Art Deco. Made from solid oak, the wood has a warm color and patina that highlights the natural grain and depth of the wood. The upper section is a series of adjustable open shelves, allowing for the display of books, trophies, heirlooms and other collections. Six planks make up the three upper shelves–adjustable on sawtooth brackets to reconfigure as needed–while the lowest shelf is fixed. Pilasters framing the openings of the shelves have fluted carvings terminating in a geometric motif like a colon. The lower body projects slightly beyond the upper section, and is organized into three shallow drawers nearly hidden above three pairs of paneled doors enclosing the undivided cabinet. Interior shelf measures 13 ⅝” deep. Look closely to appreciate the unique shape of the paneling on the six doors. All these features result in a bookcase that is distinguished but not imposing, characterized by thoughtful lines, a creative spirit, and substantial scale. Ideal for a library, office, or living room, this bookcase combines functionality with the sophistication of French antique furniture, making it a versatile and beautiful addition to any space. Two keys included.
French Reproduction Louis XV Style Commode
33.13"H x 43"W x 20.50"D
Dimensions: 33 ⅛” H x 43” W x 20 ½” D
This vintage commode from France honors Louis XV period details and Provincial charm made with 20th century finishes which have given the classic storage piece a fresh look befitting more modern tastes. A serpentine-edge top surface has been faux-finished to appear like stone, with the warm colors and fine pattern of alabaster. On the storage case below, the French-gray paint (in a hue reminiscent of lichen) is brushed with khaki undertones for a patinated-organic effect, trimmed with the now faint remains of a painted gilt which highlight the floral-foliate carvings that give visual interest to the paneling on the drawer fronts. Metal drop handles are mounted with unique, quatrefoil backplates matching the fleur-de-lis design to the far edges of the drawers. A swelled apron–with floral/foliate cartouche in the center–scrolls into escargot feet. Please view the detailed images to see the current condition.
