This is a superb pair of Napoleon III era opera chairs that date to the 1850s. These exceptional, ebonized chairs feature excellently patinated ladder back supports with comfortable and tightly upholstered seats on well supported legs. The chairs are upholstered in thick charcoal gray ribbed cut velvet in great condition held tightly by a row of round brass nailheads. The seat is supported by two tapered front legs and two gently splayed back legs offering extra support. The legs are attached by no less than 6 lovely turned, hand-carved stretchers which make these elegant petite chairs very sturdy and able to be used for many years to come. A rare 19th century English mahogany reclining high back arm chair with floral upholstery and under arm metal reclining mechanism. A lovely Victorian reclining armchair that is fashionable as well as exceptionally comfortable. Of elegant proportions, having a high supportive back, a shaped stuffed seat, padded armrests, reeded carving around the polished wooden frame, and raised on splayed feet. Gently worn coral and floral vintage upholstery is hand nail tacked into place creating a beaded affect with the round nailheads. The high back reclines using the two metal handles under each arm to give the chair four comfortable positions. Original castors are on the two front feet making it easy to move the chair around. A sweet English 19th century fruitwood chair with a rush seat. This chair was hand-crafted in England circa 1870 and is just darling with its carved scalloped seat back and warm rush seat which is in great condition. Its chamfered and curved chair legs and wavy front stretcher add so much charm to its design. Straight stretchers run across the other three sides and offer more support. This late 19th century Victorian smokers bow arm chair dates from circa 1880 and is constructed of solid oak. It has a curved back with shaped arms, turned and hand-carved spindle upright supports and a figured shaped seat. This characterful antique chair stands on four turned and tapered legs with double stretchers for added stability and has aged to a warm shade with a striking grain and good patina. A fantastic pair of Period Louis XV petite fauteuils! The giltwood frames have been carved with exquisite craftsmanship. The giltwood has been worn with age and use, giving the pair a great patina without taking away from the luster of the gold. The upholstery is in good, used condition and depicts a beautiful design of flowers and vines in metallic thread with gold trim. Classic French check fabric on the back. A fabulous Savonarola chair with perfectly worn red velvet cushions with quality tassel ties. Decorative brass finials contrast the hand forged iron frames beautifully.
