French 17th Century Solid Oak Bonneterie

A gorgeous 19th century French walnut chest of drawers–seven drawers to be exact-designed as a classic semainier in the Louis Philippe style with spellbinding patterns in the matched wood grain. The top surface is rounded at the corners and wrapped to begin the waterfall effect that carries the eye from one drawer to the next. A frieze drawer on the very top of the stack does not have a lock, but is easily opened by gently gripping the cupped handles. The six drawers in the body of the case feature stunning bookmatched fronts of radiating grain patterns that feel cohesive and expansive; they also share a key between them to secure the functioning locks. What looks like two individual drawers on the bottom are actually a single, very deep drawer for storing bulkier items like sweaters or blankets. Cleaned and polished with a French paste wax to glide easily, ready for your interior. Transitional in style, the silhouette aligns more closely with an Empire taste as the lines are clean which suits the subtleties of the beautiful walnut grain. Chippendale brass hardware of drop pulls lend functional ornamentation to the drawerfronts, which are not original and no key is present. The stack of three drawers have been thoroughly cleaned and tightened to glide easily, elevated on block feet. A unique painted bow-front commode/chest of drawers from the late 18th century in striking finishes and proportions that beg for a prominent spot in the home like a small buffet or console beyond clothing storage. Its red marble top, likely a type of Campan Mélange, shows exciting movement of gray and white veins throughout the red-maroon stone that has been cut and polished to a sloping bullnose edge. Two wide, spacious drawers occupy the deep case that bears the remains of a tonal blue painted scheme which has worn significantly to reveal the blond pine grain underneath. Both drawers open easily by pairs of solid, cast brass drop handles with satisfying heft. The chest is raised on four tapered legs in a slight cabriole scroll, armored at the feet with acanthus applications in gilt bronze. By its lines and engaging features, this period demilune chest of drawers will make for a lovely addition to any room, having been gently cleaned and waxed to maintain the nicely weathered finish and natural character. A substantial French commode from the 19th century wrapped in finely-grained mahogany trimmed with inlaid brass that frames the drawer-fronts and chamfered corners. The original marble slab blends streaks of peach and white throughout the gray stone for exciting movement, patinated with fine scratches and edge chips. A stack of three drawers whose fronts are matched for expansive continuity of the grain are punctuated by ring pull hardware in brass that coordinates with the expertly inlaid strips of metal creating a border, or paneled effect, around them. One (ornate) key is shared between the working locks, and all drawers have been thoroughly cleaned inside & out to glide easily. Veneer on the side panels displays a lightly rippled effect but remains intact and stable for continued use. Finished with a French paste wax to maintain the gorgeous color and patina, this handsome storage piece is ready for its next home. A gorgeous Louis XVI style marble-topped mahogany commode from France, circa 1870, with transitional details that could suit a wide range of decorating tastes today. The white marble features delicate gray veining carved with turreted front corners that conforms to the legs. Each of the three drawers are inset with polished brass trim around the paneling and understated escutcheons. No key is present. The top drawer is divided into three sections which makes it quite useful as a dresser for clothing as well as household items. All three drawers glide easily using brass bail handles of angular profile. Fluted pilasters on the sides transition to graceful, tapering legs fitted with brass sabot feet. Cleaned, tightened, and polished with a French paste wax this antique commode is ready for your interior.
