French 18th Century Hand-Carved Walnut Louis XVI Settee
$3,885.00
Dimensions: 37 1/4″ H x 68 1/2″ W x 26″ D
Upholstered in a simple muslin, this 18th century Louis XVI settee is structured and ready to be covered in the fabric of your choosing! Dating to 1750, this French antique sofa has seated many guests in its lifetime. Totally hand-carved, the solid walnut frame has a rich, deep brown coloration which gleams from its recent French paste wax polishing. It features many of the motifs found in Louis XVI pieces: rosette joinery dies, fluted, scrolled arms, tapered and fluted legs to name a few. The settee has a straight back and barreled arms. Eight turned and carved legs lift the sofa and give it a seat height of 17-½”H. Though the antique dates back over two hundred seventy years, the upholstery you choose does not have to. Consider pairing a contemporary patterned fabric with the settee’s traditional styling for an unexpected and eclectic conversation starter. If that is not your thing, a traditional covering will work just as nicely.
