French 18th Century Period Louis XVI Gold-Gilt Console
Dimensions: 34″H x 50″W x 21″D
French 18th century Louis XVI period gold-gilt console with marble top. A thick piece of green and white marble is perched atop the console’s gilt base. The marble is in wonderful antique condition, given its age. It does contain some scratches and blemishes, however, they are subtle, and this is to be expected with a piece of antique marble. The table base has a hefty apron that has been embellished with running rosettes and acanthus accents. The top is lifted by four tall legs, all turned, tapered and bedecked with fluted carvings. A shapely and decorative stretcher joins the legs, providing structural support that is appealing to the eye. Four gilt paw-feet protect the console from the floor below. The table is in wonderful antique condition. While there are some losses in the gilt work and marble, this 18th century antique is full of all the splendor, brilliance and character that it had when it was created over two hundred years ago!
