French 19th Century Bleached Oak Confiture
$2,850.00
Dimensions: 40-3/4”H x 29”W x 18-7/8”D
This is a fine example of a French Louis XV style confiture, a single door cabinet used to store jams or other preserved foods. The whole is made of beautifully aged oak that’s been bleached to enrich the overall appearance. Three cut boards with thumbnail carving make up the top surface and are rounded at the front corners. A single drawer is featured at the top of the body with a splendid carved facade and original pierced brass pull. The shaped-panel door is neatly carved and fixed with its original brass escutcheon, opens to reveal two removable shelves. Below is a well carved skirt, finishing with escargot feet. Circa 1880.
