The classically-moulded frame has been finished in brilliant gold gilt, adorned with vining flowers etched into its surface. These sweet details can be found on all of the mirror’s sides. Trimmed in a beaded pearl motif, the frame houses the mirror’s original mercury glass. It is in fantastic antique condition, with aging that dates the mirror without impeding its reflection. c. 1880.

French 19th Century Louis XVI Style Reeded Gilt Mirror with Double Plates

An exciting French mirror from circa 1840, framed in classic reeded molding of the Louis XVI taste that reflects the luster of gold leaf, now patinated to a fine craquelure texture. The rectangular frame is symmetrical, however the mirror glass is stacked vertically indicating it was made at a time or place where the technology was not available to make a single, large plate. Note how there is some light foxing and scratches on the surface otherwise the reflection is clear. Look closely to observe the crystals beginning to accumulate on the edges of the plates that add sparkle to the reflection. French 19th Century Giltwood Mirror

This lovely gold giltwood mirror has a conventional, rectangular shape with fantastic details etched into its frame. The classically-moulded frame has been finished in brilliant gold gilt, adorned with vining flowers etched into its surface. These sweet details can be found on all of the mirror’s sides. Trimmed in a beaded pearl motif, the frame houses the mirror’s original mercury glass. It is in fantastic antique condition, with aging that dates the mirror without impeding its reflection. c. 1880.
