Dimensions: 49” H x 34” W x 3” D
A dazzling Venetian-style octagonal mirror from the 19th century that projects from the wall like “cushion” mirrors of the same time period. In the crown are lovely scrolled elements which coordinate with the foliate designs etched into the perimeter. The mirror plates are original, exhibiting varying degrees of foxing and a thin haze of oxidation. This French Empire mantel mirror (c. 1800) exhibits calculated restraint in the surface decoration, the gold gilt molding is largely plain and smooth, with feather and foliate carvings placed at regular intervals along the perimeter.
