French 19th Century Gold-Gilt Mirror
Dimensions: 75-1/2″H x 48″W x 2″D
A grand French 19th century mirror with brilliant embellishments and finished in radiant gold gilt. An intricately-worked crest crowns the mirror and is flanked by two gilt urn finials at the frame’s top corners. This crest features scrolled filigree with figures in the forms of dragons, cornucopias, flower-filled urns, and a central cobra-hood cartouche. A pierced arcade runs along the top of the mirror’s glass, with the glass visible from behind the arcade through the piercings. The large piece of glass is flanked by two pilaster columns with fluted shafts and magnificent caryatids perched atop. The antique’s large scale and detailed workings make for a spectacular mirror that could be hung on a wall or used as a floor mirror.
