$3,200.0036"H x 24"W x 24"D
Dimensions: 36” H x 24” W x 24” D
An exceptional cast-stone planter dating to Victorian England, based on the “Medici Vase” from ancient Greece, once in the collection of the prestigious family now at the Uffizi in Florence. The iconic style has been reproduced as garden urns for hundreds of years to signify an educated taste for Classical art. This example features a flared rim over a magnificently sculpted bas-relief wrapping the exterior with figural narrative, what appears to be a bacchanalia under grape vines. Pairs of satyr faces (or Bacchus himself) mark opposing sides of the vessel where it widens again into a pronounced gadroon motif before narrowing into the fluted base. The urn rests on a square plinth to give it a stronger sense of balance and permanence in any indoor or outdoor setting. The pale, reconstituted stone has developed an organic patina with soft variation in spotted grayscale, which adds definition and emphasis on the beautiful proportions. French 18th Century Oak Wine Press
$2,600.0046.50"H x 10.50"W x 10.50"D
Dimensions: 46 ½” H x 10 ½” W x 10 ½” D
This wonderfully patinated 18th century grape press screw (circa 1790) from a winery in France is carved from a solid oak post mounted on a large base that retains the original metal strapping. The production of wine is tantamount to French culture, and these larger-than-life screws made producing it en masse a possibility. This antique press, with its deep, rich color and texture could be used as a plant stand, display pedestal, or wired as a unique floor lamp. Cleaned and polished with a French paste wax, ready for your interior. Be sure to view all the images to get a closer look.
