A dramatic French, late 19th century gold gilt mirror with original mirror glass framed by delicately carved foliate molding. The narrow molding incorporates scrolling vines of blooming flowers that come alive by the deep red bole exposed by the patination of the gold leaf. The result is a surprisingly organic effect of tactile variety with a shimmer of gold, drawing the viewer in for a closer look.
