English Victorian book stand, circa 1900 invented by John Carter and patented as a “Literary Machine” that offers two adjustable components mounted on a brass rod: the small mahogany easel to prop up a book and the circular shelf below to place one’s drink, eyeglasses, candle, or other small items that would support the enjoyment of reading. The shelf is not only adjustable in height but also slides along a cantilevered rod and can be angled to a comfortable degree for viewing. Note the small lyre-shaped clip protruding from the top as another, thoughtful convenience. The tall brass rod is mounted on a cast iron base of four arched feet with ornate scrolled motifs. On the back of the book display is the original tag from the maker “Carters” with the address in London. English 19th Century Mahogany Fold-down Desk

English circa 1820 Wellington-style chest of drawers made of mahogany in dazzling flamed grain that stretches across the case. The tall and narrow chest is secured to the sides by corbel-topped carved pilasters which are actually flaps on hinges to secure the drawers and provide a vertical counterpoint to the movement in the grain. No key is present. What appears to be nine drawer fronts are actually seven, like a semainier, reserving the middle for a compact secretary drawer disguised as two drawers which slide out and unfold as the tooled, green leather writing surface. To the back of the case are open pigeon holes and five small drawers veneered in luminous maple. An original glass inkwell is hidden in the lower right drawer. This spectacular desk has been gently cleaned and polished with a French paste wax to maintain every extraordinary detail. English 19th century farmhouse (dining) table, recently adapted for use as a coffee table to recontextualize the familiarity of a rustic farm table, placing that sense of warmth & welcome in a living area. Handmade from pine and beech, the planks of the top have been scrubbed smooth to reveal pale yellow grain in gentle patterns and texture. The frame is stained in a medium-brown walnut tone for slight contrast, dotted with the heads of square peg joinery that confirms the age. Within the apron is a rather wide drawer for convenient but out of sight storage, opened by a small turned knob. French 19th Century Louis XVI Style Console

This handsome French console was crafted in the 19th century in the style of Louis XVI. The original, worn shaped white marble top has a molded edge and is removable. Some stains and scuffs are visible on the tops’ surface. The apron features stunning cast brass ormolu- a twisted ribbon and bead motif, beaded panel borders, and columns inset into the corner journey dies. A single drawer is housed in the apron, fixed with decorative bail pulls and escutcheon. One key is included for the functioning lock. Fluted legs with brass capitals and rosette ormolu, connect with a lower shelf that showcases a circular design of inlaid brass beading and a perimeter of cast brass.
