French 19th Century Mahogany Empire Console
Dimensions: 33 3/4″H x 29 1/2″W x 17″D
Topped in an exceptional piece of black antique marble, this 19th century Empirically styled console was made in France circa 1870. The conservatively styled console has clean lines and classic details. A drawer, with mahogany veneer and brass ormolu appliqué, can be found in the top’s apron. The top is supported by two column-form front legs, with brass capitals and bases, and styled linear rear legs. The legs terminate at the plinth mahogany base, which has turreted corners to accommodate the column front legs. A “petticoat mirror” has been more recently added.
