French 19th Century Marble Culinary Scale
Dimensions: 8-1/2″H x 21-1/2″W x 9-3/8″D
An amazing 19th-century French culinary scale, made of marble, with original brass plateaux. The plateaux are handsomely patinated and bear the maker’s mark: “Vezy & Descourty Balanciers,” as well as numerous stamps, marked at previous calibrations. The scale is made of white marble that has acquired a few stains in its lifetime. Each side of the scale has a dial behind glass that is encircled in brass, enabling both the merchant and customer to view the levels. These levels are adorned with decorative fleur de lis that act as the arrow pointer. This counter scale would be wonderful in a kitchen, or as a decorative object on a bookcase or shelf. Fully functional.
