French 19th Century Brass-and-Metal Hanging Scale

A very smart French metal hanging balance scale from the late 1800s. The pointer is located at the scale’s fulcrum. Two straight stirrups hang from the arms with round brass dishes that hold the sugar or other delicacies in one, and counter weights in the other. The scale has a column shaft, with a circular plinth base, c.1870.
