Very unique 19th century French table designed to drain and shape cheese into a wheel, circa 1840. Made of pine and oak, the rather primitive construction is what makes this piece so engaging and tactile for use as an unexpected side table. A shield escutcheon remains intact in the top drawer however no key is present. Thin, tapered legs underscore the Louis XVI influence although this lightly patinated side table would fit less regal settings as well. French Vintage Bouillotte-style Low Table
$2,200.0021.25"H x 24.50"W x 24.50"D
Dimensions: 21 ¼” H x 24 ½” W x 24 ½” D
A French Louis XVI style mahogany low table/coffee table dating to the early-20th century, in the most incredible marquetry complemented by a stunning marble top. The disc of “breccia pernice” type marble shows delightful patches of mauve and butter-yellow stone, complemented by a pierced brass gallery around the circumference. This timeless table design matches earlier bouillotte tables–made for playing cards–scaling the proportions down to coffee table size to fit a living room arrangement. There are two small drawers tucked in the apron, and two small leaves inset with tooled leather surfaces that emerge to hold perhaps a drink or hand of playing cards. The exterior of the apron is entirely inlaid with geometric marquetry in a chevron pattern bordered by a thin line of contrasting, twisted effect. Tapered legs, a signature Louis XVI design, are wrapped in a more complete cross section of marquetry that shows variegated graining to end at the floor in brass sabot feet. Cleaned, tightened, and polished with a French paste wax, this extraordinary occasional table is ready for your interior. Please view the detailed images to see the current condition as the marble shows a number of thin scratches.
French Art Nouveau Gilt Console Table
$4,500.0029.50"H x 39.50"W x 17.50"D
Dimensions: 29 ½” H x 39 ½” W x 17 ½” D
French Art Nouveau giltwood console table circa 1900, a sculptural piece of furniture that expresses the artistry of the period when every aspect of interior design was an opportunity to minimize the geometry of the built environment softened with biomorphic references. This example has a shaped, white marble top that is slightly lobed at the front corners flowing in line with the gently arching splay of the two legs (the only legs meaning the piece needs to be secured to a wall for safety). An entanglement of floral and ribbon carvings decorate the bowed profile, which meet in the center of the apron as a pendant with a single flower. Note how the smooth luster of the gilded finish is truly dazzling to behold, like a piece of fine jewelry for the home. A stretcher joining the legs seems to make a connection to the poetry of Japanese floral arrangements, using the slight asymmetry for visual tension. Please view the detailed images to see the current condition as there might be some previous repairs to the legs. Marble shows the expected patina of dark spots and fine scratches.
English Pair of Federal-style Mahogany Bedside Tables

Each petite case is made of three drawers that easily open by oval ring-pull hardware in a historic rosette design. Thin, inlaid strips of a contrasting ebonized finish create a border on the top surface enhancing the natural beauty of the luminous satinwood wood grain around the outside. A single strip of satinwood over the top drawer creates a moment of visual interest that is both subtle and refined. To contrast the rectilinear proportions of the case, a swelled apron expresses personality through to the short, splayed feet. Cleaned and polished with a French paste wax, ready for your interior. Please view the detailed images to see more as the wood shows a number of scratches and dents from time and use. Sold as a pair.
