French 19th Century Empire Marble & Gilt Bronze Chandelier

A French Empire chandelier, unique for being carved from a solid block of green marble, decorated with gilt bronze appliqués and finials on every surface to project the brazen grandeur of the period. Three support rods descend from a round canopy to suspend the triangular piece of marble that branches into two bronze candle arms on each corner rising to faux candle covers. Look closely and one can see that among the mythical and Neoclassical references the faces of satyrs are incorporated into the solid bronze arms. Abundant foliate references include laurel wreaths that rise from the top plane of the marble, with a linear anthemion design just below on the flat sides, continuing as artichoke finials suspended from the underside. Please note this impressive fixture has been professionally cleaned and rewired to US electrical standards using UL-listed parts and is ready to be installed in your interior.

Vintage Italian Veca Glass Pendant Light Fixture

A vintage midcentury modern glass pendant light fixture made in Italy by Veca, circa 1960. The styling and use of thick, blue-green glass recalls the work of their contemporaries at Fontana Arte, pioneers of designing with glass for lighting and furniture. In this example the frame is made from chromed steel branching to support three arms (holding two chandelier bulbs each) diffused in two layers of green, transparent glass: the outer “shield” is a flat, oval lens creating an optical illusion in front of the semicircular inner panes around the lamping. Six chandelier-base light bulbs illuminate the fixture. Professionally cleaned and rewired to US electrical standards using UL-listed parts, ready to install in your interior. This striking ensemble of light fixtures bears a vaguely Gothic influence in their hexagonal shape, made of textural frosted glass panes held together in steel frames patinated to a reddish brown. Each substantial fixture takes one standard-base bulb and an additional three chandelier-base bulbs to illuminate a rather large space, either a room or hallway.
