A towering, French 19th century Louis Philippe period bibliothèque, handcrafted from pine which has natural luminosity within the grain and three glass-front doors to display in an office, library, or living room. The clean lines allow this timeless design to fit any number of traditional and transitional decorating tastes. Below the crested cornice are tall doors which have retained their original panes of glass, texturized by waves and small bubbles that complement the animated striations in the wood. Behind the locking doors are five interior shelves (11 ½” deep) that are adjustable on sawtooth brackets to easily reconfigure as needed. The left and center doors function together, representing one, wide vitrine whereas the right side is separate. Below are a series of three doors enclosing the lower cabinet that follow the order of the upper body: left and center doors work in tandem by a lock & key while the right side is separate. An 18th century painted wardrobe from northern Italy, displaying a particular Tyrolean-Germanic folk art style of marriage furniture, hence the charming illustrations to celebrate the happy union. The large, rectilinear volume of the wardrobe is enlivened by a grain-painted faux bois finish of energetic swirls and squiggles that long for more precious woods than the pine construction underneath. A wide door is paneled with two cartouches that enclose the polychromatic illustrations of garden urns overflowing with tightly composed floral arrangements. Forged iron hardware of working lock and hinges both inside and out are equally as expressive as the painted decoration. Swedish Gustavian Period Painted Corner Cabinet

This striking corner cabinet from 19th century Sweden is all hand-built and painted with those characteristic details so desirable of Gustavian antiques. The ethereal blue-gray paint is original to the piece and contributes a wonderful patina to harmonize in a number of interior styles. A unique cornice tops the whole, with an angular pediment flanked by scrolled projections on the corners. Fluted details add further depth to the raised panels of the cabinet doors, which are interrupted by a perfect circle in the middle. Inside the (unpainted) pine upper cabinet are three shelves, and the door is secured by a simple wood latch. The small opening at the waist is similarly unpainted, framed by a decorative archway that creates a small niche to store & display. Portuguese 18th Century Carved Solid Chestnut Cabinet

A substantial carved cabinet from Portugal, 18th century if not earlier, made of chestnut wood that has been carefully transformed with reeded, geometric designs on the four doors. In a hybrid style known as “Mudéjar” the decorative arts of the period nodded to the Moorish presence in the Iberian peninsula and global influence from the colonies . Using just a single solid plank for each side of the cabinetry, the interior is divided into upper and lower sections enclosed by these gorgeous doors hung on forged iron hardware with working locks. The top cabinet offers a high, narrow shelf around three sides like a kind of mezzanine over a 22” deep shelf that fills the interior. Below that, to the right side, is a small tabernacle box whose door is also carved with the repetitive lines seen on the exterior doors. The lower cabinet has one shelf, approximately 48” wide x 22” deep. While this cabinet may be nearly 400 years old its solid construction and extraordinary craft would make an astounding addition to any interior.
