This unique and substantial hand-carved oak refectory table, c. 1870’s, was found in the French countryside. Of doweled and mortise-and-tenon construction, it features a triple-sectioned top of five horizontal planks separated by two vertical planks over chamfered legs with shaped upper brackets and joined by a lower H-form stretcher, and ending in square and sharply tapering feet. This piece would be perfect as a dining or work table. It would also make a great desk!
