French 19th Century Transitional Walnut Bibliothèque

An extraordinary walnut bibliothèque, made in France circa 1880. This wonderful case piece combines styling elements from both the Louis XIII and Louis Philippe periods. The upper cabinet has two glass-front doors that lock before a shelved interior. The glass is original and hand rolled. The three shelves are 12″ deep, all finished and have heights that can be adjusted to suit your design needs. The lower body has two lockable drawers that are set above two lockable panel doors. Both the doors above and below are flanked by carved pilaster columns and have cut steel escutcheons. The lower compartment has a single fixed shelf. This wonderfully cared for antique bookcase is in excellent condition with a warm and rich tone found in the solid walnut.
