Swedish 19th Century Square Tilt-top Table
$3,350.0028.88"H x 34.25"W x 34.88"D
Dimensions: 28 ⅞” H x 34 ¼” W x 34 ⅞” D
A magnificent tilt-top table from Sweden, late 19th century, attributed by the label affixed underneath to Lars Olsson, of Upsala. The square top features a dazzling patchwork of burled veneer in an overlapping collaged effect of shifting grain directions that beautifully contrasts with the simplicity of the baluster column on tripod feet. This table may be stored away when not in use by the tilting mechanism that allows its top to be positioned in upright orientation to take up less space. When tilted, the table measures: 47 ½” H x 34 ¼” W x 22 ⅜” D. Today, the scale of this unique table would be perfect for a breakfast room or informal dining space to eat or play games, but could also serve as a center table. Dimensions: 29” H x 58” W x 34 ½” D
A 19th century French farmhouse table, whose robust design is a practical solution for the modern kitchen to pivot between dining and preparation. The beech wood top is 2 ½” thick, already well-patinated so one need not worry about the quality of their knife skills. A single drawer in the apron which spans the full depth has the unusual but helpful feature of easily gliding forward and back to access the contents from either side. Projecting from the apron of the table on each short side are wooden pegs that could be gently used or appreciated as a unique decorative element. Thick, oak legs braced with an H-form stretcher support the mass of the table, which could be slightly raised to a more comfortable height as an island. This unique work table has been cleaned and polished with a French paste wax to preserve and protect every feature. The wood planks forming the top surface are arranged into three, nearly square panels for a sense of order and geometry complementing the fine grain patterns of the walnut. Within the deep apron, each long side contains six drawers where the sisters would have kept their dinner service. French Mid-century Travertine Dining Table
$7,995.0029"H x 78.75"W x 39.25"D
Dimensions: 29” H x 78 ¾” W x 39 ¼” D
This French vintage travertine dining table is a monument and testament to the era of cosmopolitan sophistication seen in Hollywood Regency, that taste for noble materials balanced by Mid-Century Modern preference for linear, architectural volumes. The solid slab on top–without an apron–keeps the lines clean and open, fully appreciating the subtleties of the stone that blend creamy neutrals of white, beige, and flecks of gray. The two pedestal bases are slightly recessed making room for six guests to sit comfortably. Each pedestal block rises from a stepped base using two, parallel slabs that form a narrow void in between which adds to the visual tension. While seemingly minimal and unyielding at first glance, the table’s rounded edges, chamfered corners, and powdery smooth surface is very pleasant and enjoyable when dining. Please note the corners of the bases, one or two have been repaired professionally. Please view the detailed images to see more.
