An elegant late 19th century French sugar bowl/caddy in a cut glass vessel fitted with a silver-plated lid and handle. Intended to serve sugar or perhaps a kind of jam with style and sophistication, the shallow body is hand-crafted from clear, faceted glass with little foliate and snowflake designs interspersed with scrolling motifs etched across. The lid does not have a notch to accommodate a spoon, using a ball finial to lift. Small hallmark of an archer and a series of numbers to one side of the rim. The thin handle adds a delicate touch; it swings easily, enhancing the character and charm of this special serving piece. English 19th Century Glass Celery Vase

English circa 1860 handmade and etched glass celery vase. Before widespread refrigeration, celery was an expensive and exotic crop, necessitating a specialized type of vase to display the stalks as indicators of wealth. The tulip-shaped bowl of the vessel has straight, tall walls flaring out slightly at the rim. This example has been decorated with an etched illustration around the exterior (perhaps a stylized interpretation of celery or other foliate theme) giving it personality and flair even without a bouquet inside. A solid pedestal base elevates the vessel from a shelf or tablescape; note that due to the handcrafted nature it does have a slight lean. A striking collection of fourteen (14) vintage plates from Badonviller, France, dating from the early-to-mid 20th century. Note there are two sizes: (6) dinner plates and (8) salad plates featuring bold, red rims decorated with a silhouetted vining floral pattern that wraps the circumference. One salad plate differs slightly in its floral design from the rest, which is nearly imperceptible in the group. Condition as expected from time and use with small flea bite chips.
