Framed Set of 18th Century Portuguese Tiles
$650.001.25"H x 12"W x 12"D
Dimensions: 1 ¼” H x 12” W x 12” D
The artistry and industry of Portuguese azulejos tiles is a tradition that dates back many centuries; as a practical, architectural surface to cover both interior and exterior walls without missing the opportunity to make a strong visual impact. This collection of four, patinated tiles from the 18th century has been more recently assembled into a panel set in a wooden frame to appreciate the charm of their handpainted design (hence the subtle variation between them) incorporating stylized geometric and floral motifs rendered in blue and lavender glazes on white-slip clay. Whether used in place of a trivet on a table, displayed on a surface, or hung on a wall this inspiring memento will delight in any interior. We believe this to be in good antique condition considering its age, and any visible signs of wear are captured in the photos. French 19th Century Massive Ceramic Olive Oil Jars

A pair of enormous 19th century French stoneware cruches traditionally used as a bottle or demijohn to transport and store water, oil, or wine–now artifacts of culinary history to add to one’s studio pottery collection or décor. The bulbous vessels use integrated handles at the top to aid in pouring liquid out of the narrow mouth that would have been corked. One cork is present. We believe this item to be in good antique condition considering its age. Please view the detailed image gallery for the current condition and message us with any questions. Sold as a pair.
