French Early 19th Century Bleached Oak Farm Table
$9,750.00
Dimensions: 28 3/8″ H x 84 1/8″ W x 28 3/4″ D
Time has afforded this exceptional farm table a unique patina that is second to none. Made in France towards the beginning of the 19th century. The table is made of bleached oak and has undergone a few modifications over its life’s course. The first mod is an honest repair that was made to the table’s top. The top is made of two massive oak boards and does have a large, wedge-shaped piece of walnut that has been used to replace a portion of missing wood. The repair has become patinated over time and it would be hard to imagine the table without it!
Another modification was lifting the table. Antique tables are often known for being lower than today’s tables, and can make pairing them with present-day dining chairs a challenge. Lifting the table makes it ready for use today. The table lacks an apron, which makes seating more accommodating as well. The raised stretcher provides guests with ample legroom. The primitive design of the table is one for the ages, as it has lasted nearly two hundred years. It’s Provincial charm is welcoming and begs for friends and family to gather around and share a meal together.
