French Early 20th Century Hand-Painted Floriform Light Fixture
Dimensions: 24-3/4″H x 24″Diameter
This delightful fixture, from France, c. 1900’s, is fashioned from the horn of an antique phonograph, originally designed by Thomas Edison in 1877, and would light up a breakfast nook or kitchen island beautifully! Hung from a later antiqued brass ring and 3′ chain, the floriform horn shade retains its cerulean paint on the exterior and a paler shade of the same color on the interior which features a hand-painted pink-and-green floral-and-foliate motif with a double-beaded trim of deep blue along the scalloped edge. This charming piece, illuminated with a large amber glass “squirrel-cage” Edison bulb, would be a great conversation starter! Wired for the US.
