An extraordinary French 19th century vanity or hall tree that could serve many functions around the home to anchor an entryway, hall or dressing room in need of a statement piece of furniture with storage. Made in the Art Nouveau taste, this pier-style mirror is composed of an original, elongated beveled mirror plate that displays an intriguing haze of dark foxing throughout, towering over the console/cabinet and shelves (secured by a series of dowels to disassemble as needed). All the wooden construction is painted in a thick creamy white with parcel gilt details to achieve a sense of lightness against the grand proportions. A stylized pediment above the glass features a gilded floral crown which sets the tone for the biophilic and gilt elements worked into every component of the frame, as botanical references, rosettes, or simply lines painted on the turned wood baluster columns. The shelf is not only adjustable in height but also slides along a cantilevered rod and can be angled to a comfortable degree for viewing. Note the small lyre-shaped clip protruding from the top as another, thoughtful convenience. The tall brass rod is mounted on a cast iron base of four arched feet with ornate scrolled motifs. On the back of the book display is the original tag from the maker “Carters” with the address in London. English circa 1820 Wellington-style chest of drawers made of mahogany in dazzling flamed grain that stretches across the case. The tall and narrow chest is secured to the sides by corbel-topped carved pilasters which are actually flaps on hinges to secure the drawers and provide a vertical counterpoint to the movement in the grain. No key is present. What appears to be nine drawer fronts are actually seven, like a semainier, reserving the middle for a compact secretary drawer disguised as two drawers which slide out and unfold as the tooled, green leather writing surface. To the back of the case are open pigeon holes and five small drawers veneered in luminous maple. An original glass inkwell is hidden in the lower right drawer. This spectacular desk has been gently cleaned and polished with a French paste wax to maintain every extraordinary detail. Dating to circa 1870, this 19th-century butcher shop or bakery display table features a lightly patinated white marble top on an oak frame. The marble is shaped with gently rounded front corners and left square at the back, carved with a slight groove around the edges to be inviting from every angle; the stone is tinged with gentle wear, small edge nicks, and scattered discoloration. Intended as work and display tables in butcher shops or other merchants, fixtures of this type remain valuable for their durability and easy maintenance, withstanding the demands of today’s homes as well. Simple yet robust construction are timeless as multi-use furnishings in a variety of rooms and decorating styles. Norwegian 18th Century Rococo Painted Table

A fabulous Norwegian table from the late 18th century, that is a Scandinavian interpretation of Italian Baroque tastes with exaggerated features to feel as if a completely original style. Below the top surface which is painted in visible layers of amber-brown, the swelled apron is pigmented further by washes of red and white in that “scraped” effect so desirable of Gustavian antiques. The frontality of the wide, scrolled legs (in the silhouette of Louis XV cabriole legs) makes this piece ideal for a console or center table to appreciate the unique, hand-crafted qualities in the round. French Late 19th Century Painted Garden Table

A fantastic painted tole garden table from France, circa 1890. The square top has been painted green and has rounded corners and a hole in the center to accommodate an umbrella. The base was made with a design well ahead of its time. It is painted a creamy ivory color with weathering present. A special table, ideal for taking in a beautiful day outside with friends and family.
