Hand-carved in France during the 19th Century this Louis XVI style round table features a thick gorgeous inset marble top with a chamfered edge. The rosewood colored stone top with white and charcoal veining and wonderful patterns throughout rests inside the decoratively carved molded edge of a thick apron adorned with a neoclassical repeating circular pattern. Carved rectangles that frame rosette motifs on the corners separate the table apron into four segments. Emerging from the bottom of these joints are four fluted and tapering legs that terminate in acanthus cups and petite turned ball feet. A straight and elegant X-stretcher joins to meet a lovely carved rosette in the center and gives additional support. Just underneath is another more visible top drawer with polished brass lion’s head pulls and striking brass shield escutcheons that feature paired griffons. These stylized escutcheons follow down to be found on the bottom drawers and one key is included for all five functioning locks. Under both top drawers the front of the desk folds forward to reveal a work area inset with vibrant orange leather elegantly detailed with gold tooling. The leather is in great antique condition making this a comfortable place to work. When open, you can see the theatre is equipped with five drawers with round brass sunburst pulls and a large open cubby partitioned with arches and columns with the center housing carved stairs that can be removed to reveal a private storage space. With the desk down the maximum depth is 22 ½”; the writing surface is 34 ¼” W x 30”H. An early 19th Century French Louis XVI style commode made of beautifully toned walnut. Hand-crafted in France circa 1810, its original shaped black marble top has white and gray tiny patterns that resemble the night sky, and it sits over five drawers decorated with brass shield escutcheons and angular brass drop pulls. One key is present to open all locks. This dignified case piece showcases a gorgeous wood grain and honeyed tones. Iconic of the Louis XVI style this piece features two well turned fluted columns flanking the long drawers, each ending in long toupie feet. French Louis XVI Style Painted & Marble Gueridon

Hand-carved in France during the 19th Century this Louis XVI style round table features a thick gorgeous inset marble top with a chamfered edge. The rosewood colored stone top with white and charcoal veining and wonderful patterns throughout rests inside the decoratively carved molded edge of a thick apron adorned with a neoclassical repeating circular pattern. Carved rectangles that frame rosette motifs on the corners separate the table apron into four segments. Emerging from the bottom of these joints are four fluted and tapering legs that terminate in acanthus cups and petite turned ball feet. A straight and elegant X-stretcher joins to meet a lovely carved rosette in the center and gives additional support. The wood has a parcel paint finish, with traces of a light colored wood visible under the terra cotta colored paint. This Louis XVI style table would be a fetching addition to any space.
