French White-Glazed Soup Tureen, of Faïence Fine, by J. Vieillard & Cie, Bordeaux
Dimensions: 9-3/4″H x 11-1/4″W x 9-1/8″D
This lovely early 19th century white-glazed faïence fine tureen would make a wonderful vessel from which to serve soup or stew. Ornate foliate handles, one with a repair, provide a secure place to hold the pot of soup without harming your fingertips. A decorative finial serves as a handle on the lid. Perched atop a pedestal base, this tureen looks great even when not in use. The maker’s stamp of Jules Vieillard & Cie/David Johnston, Bordeaux, is on the underside.
