Grand French 19th Century Gold-Gilt Mantle Mirror
Dimensions: 76-1/2″H x 52-1/2″W x 4-3/4″D
A spectacular gold-gilt mirror from 19th century France. An impressive crest rests atop the mirror’s shaped top rail. This crest is composed of a wreath of roses set behind a crossed torch and quiver of arrows. A knotted bow can be seen in the wreath and laurel branches with berries extending from each side. The crest is flanked by urns with flames found at the mirror’s top corners. A pierced and twisted ribbon motif winds down the sides of the frame with twisted acanthus intermixed. The massive mirror has its original mercury glass that is complete with excellent foxing, c.1860.
