Pair of French 19th Century Painted Louis XVI Bergères
Dimensions: 38 1/2″H x 26″W x 24″D
A fine pair of upholstered Louis XVI period bergères from 19th century France. The chairs have been recently reupholstered in a beautiful ivory, natural, and black striped fabric that complements the painted frame wonderfully. The upholstery is trimmed in double welt cording. The square-back frame is exceptionally well-carved with pomegranate finials crowning the top rails. Beaded pearl, lamb’s tongue, acanthus leaf and fluted motifs adorn this classically Louis XVI pair. The ivory colored paint has acquired an antique patina that is stunning. The long, slender, fluted and turned legs give the chairs a seat height of 18″.
