This pair of lanterns are an innovative reuse of classic English melon cloche (the handmade glass domes used to protect developing fruit in the garden), now inverted, wired, and suspended from the ceiling by gorgeous wrought iron armatures. Each lantern descends on a series of thin steel rods that hook to a ring fixed around the rim of the dome. The central rod hangs low in the bowl, electrified with three faux candle covers for chandelier-base bulbs to illuminate the fixture and reveal all the wonderful swirls and texture in the glass imparted during the handmade process. Enclosing the knob of the dome’s top is a matching iron cover ending with a ring for a seamless look.
